I have been working on a recipe for a balm to help with sore muscles and joints for a while, but I wanted to be sure I was using effective ingredient that would also be safe to use around your pets. Several common "natural pain-relief" ingredients, especially clove oil, are incredibly toxic for your dog to even smell.

The recipe that I settled on (for now) included Frankincense essential oil, Copaiba Essential Oil, Sandalwood Essential Oil, and Magnesium Oil.  These are four anti-inflammatory, pain reducing powerhouses!  Frankincense has been used for thousands of years for swollen, angry joints because it slows down the body's inflammatory response. Copaiba is new to me, but I found out that it is a plant that originates in the Amazon and works on the same receptors as CBD oil to quiet pain signals.  It's no secret that sandalwood essential oil is one of my favorite anti-inflammatory ingredients that soothes red, irritated skin on contact, as well as promoting healthy skin so the other ingredients can do their jobs. And lastly, I've added magnesium oil to help with sore muscles. Most of us are deficient in magnesium, which leads to cramping and pain. Magnesium oil is absorbed quickly, so there is no waiting for a pill to help with your pain.

Suggested use: Use your finger to apply a pea-sized amount of balm to the desired area. Allow the product to warm to your body temperature and massage into your skin. Apply as thinly or thickly as desired or based on the condition of the skin being covered. As this balm is very oil-rich, it is ideal for overnight use so the product has time to sit on the skin and be fully absorbed.

The Tea from D: I use this one on myself, but also my husband quite a lot. This balm is a little less solid than the others, so when warmed to body temperature it is great to use as a massage oil for achy necks, backs, and shoulders. I also recently helped to some car repairs and came out with massive bruises on my forearms from squeezing my hands/arms into the tiny spaces "someone else" couldn't. This balm was a huge help calming the pain of the bruising and healing them faster than usual for me.
